South West China Sichuan Panda


Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan Province, which is known as the “Heavenly State” and also famous for the lovely giant panda. The history of the city can be traced back to 2,400 years ago when the first emperor built his capital here and named the city. Thus there are many historical background featuring places of interest such as the Dufu Thatched Cottage, Dujiangyan Irrigation System, etc. You can also see the cute giant panda here.

Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area

Located in Nanping County about 400 kilometers (249 miles) from Chengdu City, the Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area is bordered by nine Tibetan counties and covered by thick primitive forests, which occupy more than half of the scenic area (about 620 square kilometers /153,205 acres), home to rare flowers and animals like pandas. It boasts of crystal clean water. Legend has it that a fairy was presented a mirror by her lover, but became so excited that she accidentally broke it into 108 pieces. Thus those clear colorful lakes there were endowed with immortal beauty.

Huanglong Scenic Area

Huanglong Scenic Area is near to the Jiuzhai Scenic Area, The ‘World Wonder’ and ‘Fairy Land on Earth’ are names enjoyed by this scenic area, which is well known for its colorful lakes, snow clad mountains, valleys and virgin forest. Due to its layered calcium carbonated deposit patterns, the valley resembles a golden dragon winding its way through the virgin forest, stone mountains and glaciers.

ChungKing is one of four municipalities directly under central government control. It is a city with a long history, and it was important as an inland port near the rich Sichuan region. It is located at the place where the Jialing River meets the Yangtze River. Lucky for travelers, the fragile rock carvings at Dazu and other natural scenery remained comparatively unspoiled. The city is also famous for its delicious hot pot, but note that it’s very, very spicy.

Dujiangyan got its name from the historical water project, Dujiangyan Irrigation system. The famous Taoism Mountain, Qingcheng Mountain also locates here. Dujiangyan Irrigation System is a masterpiece of its kind. As an irrigation system, it consists of three major parts. Interacted with each other, the three parts have effectively solved the problems of irrigation, flood discharge, and sands drainage.

Leshan is located in the southwest of Sichuan province, 180km from Chengdu and 20km from Emeishan. Leshan Giant Buddha is the largest stone sculpture of Buddha in the world. Taking the shape of a Maitreya Buddha, the Giant Buddha is depicted barefooted with ear droppings and with spiral topknot on the head. The snacks here are also very famous.

Mount Emei

Mount Emei lies in the southwestern area of Sichuan basin in China. Its main peak is called as the Golden Summit while the highest peak, the Wanfoding Summit is 3099 meters above the sea level. Mount Emei is blessed with sea of clouds, Sunrise, Buddhist halos, and Saint Lamps. Furthermore, it is one of the four famous Buddhist Mountains in China.
